A House Full of Inspiration

A House Full of Inspiration

Before I ever wrote this blog…..I was a blog reader.

Every morning.

I would sip a cup of cinnamon coffee with hazelnut creamer and read……and dream.

This was a world filled with pages and pages of chevron rugs and burlap and locker baskets and down pillows with the number seven and bingo cards and nailhead trim.

It was perfection.

It was amazing.

Full of endless creativity and a world of possibilities.

I read so many blogs….more than I could ever count.

But one was my favorite.

The best of the best.

One I admired from afar.

Melaine from My Sweet Savannah.

She didn’t know that I was her BFF.

She never even heard of me.

She had no idea who I was.

But I was her biggest cheerleader….her biggest fan.

KITCHEN BEFORE FLOORS WERE STAINED AND BEFORE CABINETS PAINTED

I loved her kitchen before.

Doesn’t it look amazing.

Don’t you love those words around the skylight.

And this was before.

Before she stained her floors dark and painted her cabinets.

Before it looked even more amazing.

I cheered her on silently ever step of the way.

She was fearless.

She was my hero.

She was always painting numbers or letters on fabric or walls or baskets or linen…..way before Pinterest or painting numbers was even cool.

I was in awe.

master bath before

She took her master bath from this….

MASTER BATH AFTER 1

…..to this…..

.….and this.

I never missed a post.

I can remember reading about her new pillows in her living room when I was in the middle of the house renovation…..knee-deep in dust and wallpaper scraps and washing dishes in my bathroom sink.

She inspired me.

She lifted my spirits and made me smile and believe that one day I could sit in a living room with pillows and curtains and artwork and watch the sunbeams dance across the wood floors.

So thank you to the wonderful, incredible, inspirational Melaine.

I count my blessings that you write your blog.

I count my blessings that you and I have had coffee together for more mornings than I can count.

And I that I can call you friend.  :)

PS  Melaine is having a Joss & Main Sale on March 3!  I know you won’t want to miss it!

Karianne- the minute I have my decaf with French vanilla creamer made, and I’ve read my daily devotional, (okay, sometimes even before that), I curl up with an afghan, and go straight to your blog to start my day with inspiration, smiles, and laughter. I adore your decorating style, but most of all, I adore your sunny, sweet outlook on life, and your immense talent at writing about what really matters…the people we love, the beauty surrounding us each day, and finding joy in the simplist of things. So I hope it brings joy to your heart to know you are my Melaine! And I LOVE having coffee with you each morning! Thanks for being my BFF, and making me feel that I’m yours too! You are delightful!

  8. You are the first one that posts each morning…and with my coffee cup and Kindle in hand, I sit by my fireplace alongside my handsome Baileyhusband, with still sleepy eyes….you make me laugh out loud….interrupting the quietness of our home! Thanks for being YOU!

Shame on you both for being so darn generous and wonderful! Kristina

  18. Kari I could not agree more. She was one of my early on blogs too and the first time I truly fell in love with large words painted on walls. In fact, would you believe I have that very same shot in my inspiration files to do in my own kitchen. Unlike Melaine, my word are still in my files and not on the walls. Lol. Just love this wonderful world of blogs…there are so many talented people out there! Thanks for being MY inspiration, friend!

  50. KariAnne…………..I love reading your blog. No way will I skip yours. Days when I have no time to read blogs, or even drink my tea, I still sneak onto my laptop and find you. Our homes are very different but very similar. That is where inspiration comes in. You see things done and take them and make them your own. Nothing is ever carbon copied but many things are done with a twist. Never a white wall or curtainless window in my home. I love them for others but I am jewel tones and fabric. That’s what makes our homes ours. Hope I get to meet you sometime soon. I feel like I know you and love you.

  51. Mary-Anne Bunda :

Your post describes exactly where I’m at right now and hope maybe one day that I can take that leap of faith and start a blog; but in the meantime I remain one of your biggest fans and will continue to be filled up with inspiration and hope. Thanks so much for sharing your life… you are making a difference!

    Debbie :)

  65. Your words are always so real & so true. I too have loved to start my mornings with my favorite coffee & then straight to My Sweet Savannah. I would also feel that we were “friends”, especially once I realized we live within a couple of hours of each other! I love everything about her home & all of her amazing decorating ideas. And then one day……I found another blog that I instantly loved & found another BFF. Now what to do?
Which should I visit first today??? I’d like to thank you for unknowingly becoming another BFF! You are amazing & I love your home & ideas & fun way of putting thoughts on paper (or screen!!).
