Beach Inspired Bedroom Decor

Beach Inspired Bedroom Decor

  beach-inspired-decorating

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to tell you.

Okay….maybe I just waited a little bit…..

….but it seemed like forever. :)

I’m so excited because in three weeks I’m starting to renovate a bedroom at a beach house at the entrance to Cape Cod.

I know…..triple exciting with extra whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles on top…..right?

I mean….after all the farmhouse is totally ready for summer…..

…..and I needed a new project.

And what is better than bringing the salt and sand and sun and ocean breezes inside….

…and decorating a beach inspired bedroom.

So when I started planning the room….of course…..

….I looked here for inspiration.

And here.

sand-dollars

And here.

Coastline

And of course….here.

And when I put it all together…..

….it ended up looking a little like this.

I’m working on an amazing molding wall treatment for the focus wall and adding color with blue and white stripes and a simple navy trellis design and then layering in red lobster fabric.

And adding simple white bedding with a patterned coverlet and a distressed whale sign for the wall and pops of red accessories.

I start in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait to show you the finished room.

Until then….I leave you with this.

What did one tide pool say to the other tide pool?

….show me your mussels. :)

  7. Nana Presley :

Why stop with just one bedroom! Love the colors and fabrics and can’t wait to see the finished product. I know the other bedrooms will be screaming, “I need a facelift too!!!” As you travel, I can’t wait to see what other ideas you have. Love you.

  8. I love the colors of the sea — that is where we always go to recharge our batteries. I get so much inspiration. I can’t wait to see how you do it. I just knew there had to be some red in there — after all I’m sure you’ll be wearing red lipstick and fantastic earrings while doing the project. Could it be the earrings draw in creative vibes from the atmosphere? You sure do come up with great ideas!! Can’t wait to see.

  9. Love!

  10. Ha! Amazing talent AND a sense of humor? Girl, you’re the total package! :) I am so excited for you, AND for the homeowner that will get to enjoy a beautiful room designed by you! Have a wonderful Tuesday!

  11. Oh I am jealous jealous jealous! (In a good way :) ) Love doing beachy nautical decor. Love the beach. And oh my gosh…love Cape Cod. Puh-lease eat some lobster for me – preferably in a lobster roll since this allergic-to-shellfish-girl can have none. Love the red fabric. (I would have called it “the red lobster” fabric but that sounded like a restaurant. ha ha)

  12. Oh my love love love this and soooo excited for you! I love the beach and am wanting to add more sea,sun and sand fun to our new home. I can not wait to see your ideas.. so I can steal them! Love the blue and white stripes. Enjoy and please wiggle toes in sand for me just one time!

  13. Sorry to pester.. you know how I am! But I could not find your post on Lampsplus. Sorry if I overlooked it.

  14. CAPE COD! :insert green jealous monster type here:

  15. Sheryll & Critters. :

Show me your mussels………. still laughing. And I sure wish I could decorate a bedroom in a beach theme without the problem of no money. And my bedroom is just that….. a light, airy beach look.

  16. Oh, you’re going to have so. much. fun!!! Can’t wait to see!!!~~Angela

  17. Great joke and great design board! How fun to decorate a room in a beach house!! Can’t wait to see the progress and final product :)

  18. Oh! Oh! Oh!! I can’t wait to see the final product. So fun!!

  19. I can’t wait to see your finished room. I just love blue and white, and with touches of red and tan it will be awesome I am sure :-)

  20. Show me your “mussels”? Seriously! What a fun project for you! ;)

  21. I’m adding that joke to my repertoire IMMEDIATELY! Just a minute . . . must tell my co-workers . . . And they laughed! ;)

LOVE beachy decor. I have to have some type of beach in at least ONE room, at all times. I’ve considered just building my OWN beach . . . Sigh . . .

    Happy Tuesday!

  22. Love your design board, KariAnne! As a Pisces, anything *beach* is close to my heart. The colors are bright & without the usual print ~ anchors. Those lobster & seahorse fabrics are just the most “sophisticated whimsical” I’ve seen! Leave it to you to do something really fun!

BTW, your Summer Home Tour is the big winner of all we’ve seen … !!!

  23. You have our attention!!! Can’t wait to see the beach room makeover! How lucky that you are ready for summer!! We are still in the thick of things,,,putting in underground sprinklers, making tree beds, building fences and gateways…its comin though!!! Have a wonderful day!!

    From the country,,,,,Dawna

  24. Love! Such fun!

  25. DEBORAH BURKE :

Can’t wait to see the finished product,I know it will be fantastic!!!!!! :-)

  26. I absolutely cannot wait to see the finished project. I know it’s going to be dreamy!

  27. I’m curious to know what town on the Cape. I live in Mass. about 1/2 hour from the Cape bridges. It’s beautiful this time of year just before the crowds descend. Have a wonderful time! Can’t wait to see the finished room! Happy trails to you, K. Terri

P.S. Husband I are currently looking for a small coastal home/cabin/shack in Maine around the Ellsworth and Bar Harbor area. It will be a remodel, something we can pull apart and make our own. I love your Industrial Farmhouse design and will be using similar looks for our decor.

  28. IF this is not an e design (which I bet it is) let’s get together if you do a site visit. Love your style but most importantly, your sense of humor. I’m 7 miles from the bridge.

  29. Sooooo excited for you!! Cape Cod is one of the beach decor meccas and you are going to raise the bar, I just know it. Looking forward to seeing it all come together.

  30. Love your blog and all your decorating inspiration, but the idea board for the Cape house is just wonderful. Echoing so many before me, that this is one of my most favorite places on earth! Had to chuckle, though, at your description of the location – I’m thinking you are either just before or after the bridges, Wareham or Sandwich, maybe…. When I travel, frequently, there, I try and decide where I would most want to live and what kind of a house it would be. Too many choices, for sure, with each town having such a distinct personality. Can’t wait to see the finished decorating – looking forward to your version of the “Cape-style”!

  31. I can’t wait to see it!! Love your moodboard and the fabrics are so fun! My hubby and I honemooned in Cape Cod – so it has a very special place in my heart! xo Heather

  32. The ideas look great. I can’t wait to see how it all gets pulled together in the actual space. My hubby and I rent a condo on the beach in FL ever year and I would so love to be able to decorate it. There are so many wonderful things you can to with the beach vibe.
