The Imagination Room Makeover

The Imagination Room Makeover

Before side window view picture

If you drove by last Tuesday and caught a glimpse of a cartwheel through the windows.

That was me.

Just an ordinary day in an ordinary farmhouse with an ordinary girl in red lipstick and yoga pants with paint on them getting ready for another room make-over.

I’m partnering with Frog Tape to think outside the box and completely make over a room from top to bottom.

And just between us?

I think this is my favorite make-over I’ve ever done before.

So let’s go all Julie Andrews and start at the very beginning.

Because it’s a very good place to start. :)Continue reading

English Inspired Stone Paver Patio Makeover With Wayfair

English Inspired Stone Paver Patio Makeover With Wayfair

summer flowers in urn

When Wayfair contacted me and asked if I was interested in partnering with them on an outdoor space, first I said yes.

Then I decided to go all Downton Abbey and create an English inspired stone paver patio.

Kind of like the Earl of Grantham meets a farmhouse meets concrete pavers from the home improvement store meets the back meadow.

It’s a little bit country and a little bit English manor house.

With extra manor.Continue reading

Spring Laundry Room Makeover With Birch Lane

Spring Laundry Room Makeover With Birch Lane

laundry soap

A little over a month ago Birch Lane contacted me to see if there was a space in my house I wanted to add a little spring refresh to.

And did I need a little help?

Umm….yes.

As a matter of fact I do.

Then I jumped up and down and tried a cart-wheel and thought I might take up yodeling to celebrate.

I knew I had the perfect space for the refresh.  I’ve been wanting to add a little something to the laundry room.

At least that’s how the conversation went when I explained it all to my husband later.  Just a little bit here and there, I told him.

And somewhere between a little bit and a little something…..

….I kind of got a little carried away.

And completely made over the entire room. :)Continue reading

Before and After Geometric Hexagon Wall

Before and After Geometric Hexagon Wall

before room

So today is the day we have been waiting for with great anticipation for weeks.

We’ve been sitting on the edge of our seat and talking about it and rolling our eyes and crossing our fingers and toes and wondering when it would finally get here and what we should do to get ready.

We even had a count down.

T minus 45 hours and 16 minutes.

You’re probably thinking it’s this before and after room makeover.  And while the room looks amazing and I can’t even believe it turned out like it did and the geometric hexagon wall that we created from scratch takes my breath away.  But that’s so not even what I’m talking about.

We have been waiting for something even better.

The season premiere of Fuller House.

I know, right?

DJ, Stephanie, Kimmy and Uncle Jesse are in the house.

Literally. :)Continue reading

The Day the Mattress Went Up the Stairs

The Day the Mattress Went Up the Stairs

farmhouse bedroom with color

A long time ago in a land far away we switched up all the rooms.

Some people went upstairs and some people went downstairs and I told you we were making over the rooms from boy rooms to girl rooms.

That was about a century ago.

At least that’s what my daughters tell me.

But we are working on the upstairs now and we are planning on mixing a little vintage with a little farmhouse.

Here’s the foundation for a room for one of the twins who wanted more of a farmhouse room.  She’s an old soul who loves Little House on the Prairie.

Through the Years and The Evolution of a Porch

Through the Years and The Evolution of a Porch

the porch before

I’m pausing just a moment on this busy Monday morning with an ode to my porch:

Through the years

You’ve never let me down

You’ve turned my life around

The sweetest days I’ve found, I’ve found with you

Through the years

No one sings it like Kenny.

And this is the beginning of the porch’s journey.  The before before.  Before the black and white and Christmas trees and magnolias and neutrals.

This is where it all started.

This is where it began.

How to Stain a Deck (the Easy Way)

How to Stain a Deck (the Easy Way)

how to stain a deck

We have stained and painted a lot of decks and porches around our house.

Like this one.

And this one.

It’s our permanent hobby along with power washing the siding and edging the lawn.

And every time we paint (and by we…I mean me and the mouse in my pocket) it’s a lot of bending and stretching and getting up to go to the paint bucket…

….and a lot of time.

Until now.Continue reading

Back to School Office Organization (and a Little Before and After)

Back to School Office Organization (and a Little Before and After)

In not-organization news I spent a not-productive Sunday watching an entire marathon of Flea Market Flip.

Have you ever seen that show?

It features two teams of two people who meet at a flea market and are given a certain amount of money and an hour and three categories of projects to create and they have to shop the market and buy loads of sad, neglected parts of this and that and turn it into something amazing.  Then then the next day they bring their treasures back to the market and try to sell them and whoever makes the most profit wins $5000.

I know all of this because I spent hours yesterday watching the show.

I couldn’t help it.

As soon as I saw the teams I would start rooting for one of them and when I saw what they bought I had to see what they turned it into and then I had to see who won.  And I kept thinking that this was going to be the last show and that any minute an episode of House Hunters was about to be on.

Good thing I got all organized before the whole Flip Market Flip debaucle.

And here’s how I did it.Continue reading
