A Stamp To Remember

There are days when I feel like I spend my life with my foot in my mouth.

Not intentionally.

Not on purpose.

It just seems like “embarrassment” follows me around.  Like an old familiar friend.

And although “embarrassment” and I have seen our share of good times, I thought we were well on our way to breaking up.  Over.  Done.  Finissimo.  I was moving on to a new relationship with “model citizen.”  Together we were going to be unstoppable….with my foot out of my mouth planted securely on the floor. Hey Now….You’re an All Star

We have a family playlist for the car.

A list of songs that are true classics.

Songs that have been played for years….the lyrics memorized long ago.

Songs that only achieve their full potential when they are sung at the top of your lungs with your head moving side to side…..complete with hand motions and an occasional “Ooo Ooo.”

In unison.

Call it family bonding.

Here’s our family-bonding playlist: [Read more...]

Next Up at the Odditorium

I instagrammed my toes.

And I can hear you.

I can hear you asking….why?

Why?  Why?  Why the toes?

And maybe even raising your eyebrow in the process.

It’s simple.

(1)  Right now I  instagram anything that moves and

(2)  I wanted to submit this post to Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

Ripley’s is famous for the world’s longest fingernails and a fish with two heads and a bearded lady and the Lizardman.

But I never saw a feature on the world’s longest toes….

…..probably because I had never submitted these.

.

Seriously.

I am short and stubby.  Nothing wrong with that.  Martha Washington was short and stubby and she turned out just fine.

Now…..I try to be a glamorous stubby person.

I wear lipstick and sunglasses and highlight my hair.

I try to wear toe-disguising flower flip-flops.

But no one who knows me would ever, ever, ever call me tall or extraordinarily long.

Until they took a gander at these toes.

So with a shaky economy and gas approaching $5.00/gallon…..I’m banking on my toes to be my ticket to fame and fortune.

So if any of you are heading to Orlando to the Ripley’s Odditorium.

Tell them I sent you.

Or you could e-mail me for an autographed picture :)

PS  If the toes are a bit too much for you…..please head over here where the sweetest blogger EVER is featuring my house tour today.

I Would Walk 500 Miles

I wish you could meet my sister, Whitney.

Simply put, she is amazing.

She knows every line to every Seinfeld episode ever written.  She has run a marathon without breaking a sweat (okay…..maybe she huffed and puffed a time or two), adopted a dog refugee from Hurricane Katrina and left home to star in an off-Broadway play.  She makes lampshades out of old photography slides and boxes out of record albums and covers soap with felted wool and occasionally creates an embroidered tray or two.

So when Whitney called me to ask me to pin where I walk…..

….who was I to argue with this Seinfeld-loving-soap-making-lamp-shade-creator sister of mine?

Here’s where I walk.

On a gravel path down by the lake near the rocks and the beach.

With the sailboat marina in the distance and tiny little fishing boats dotting the horizon.

And my playlist set to “I Would Walk 500 Miles.”

With super cute pink tennis shoes.

So we salute you, Whitney, my pink tennis shoes and I.

And your Walk It. Pin It. Win It. contest.

I’m happy to participate.

I just have one quick question.

Do I get extra credit if I walk with lipstick on ? :)

PS  Here are the details on Whitney’s contest (she’s the Digital Communications Director for a division of The American Heart Association).

PPS  Let me know if you take a picture!  I would love to pin them to my Walking Inspiration Pinterest Board.

PPPS  I Instgramed these photos.  I truly heart Instagram, but I think I’m saving my infatuation for another post.

Watch Out For Crumbs

I am a little in awe of the artistic photograph.

You know what I’m talking about….the photographs taken from incredible visual angles with tight shots and wide shots and close-ups.  Photographs taken on tractors and horses and beaches and lakes and sandboxes and gardens and fields.

This is not one of those photographs. [Read more...]

No More Freshy Decorating

My husband told me he doesn’t like “freshy decorating.”

Actually the exact quote was, “Why do we have to have so much freshy decorating around here?”

Hmmmm.

Freshy decorating?

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that on HGTV before.

And I’m sure the DIY network never featured it.

I Am So Over It

I am so going on Facebook and unfriending the plumbing in our house.  Then I’m changing my status to “disappointed in you.”

Plumbing….you are on notice….this relationship is officially over.

I just don’t think I can be friends anymore.

At this point, I am so over it.

Really.

I am so over leaking.

I am so over drain pipes and wet drywall and water where it shouldn’t be.

I am so over this. [Read more...]

Wake Up Sleepy Head

My house slept in this morning.

It was all my fault.

Normally I wake it up first thing.

Seriously.

And yes, you read that correctly.

Not my family…..my house.

Some people talk to their plants.  Some people talk to their pets.

I talk to my house. [Read more...]

Shakespeareless

What do you write when you can’t think of anything to say?

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

Or just me?

You know what you want to write about.

You just don’t know what to say.

You want to post about the renovations to the master bedroom.

You even manage to dredge up some old before pictures from the vault to demonstrate your progress. [Read more...]
