Random thoughts on a cold Saturday morning.

Just add coffee.

1.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a really good hand cream?  I’ve tried almost everything and my hands look like I was around when Columbus discovered America.

2.  The sweetest kitten showed up on our doorstep.

Once my children saw him, he became a member of the family.

His name is Nash (as in Steve…the basketball player).

3.  I love singing “Let it Go” at the top of my lungs in the car.

Preferably with the windows rolled up. :)

4.  Don’t you think the idea of an entire Christmas tree covered in nothing but snowflakes sounds so pretty?

5.  Is it wrong if I’m hooked on the Hallmark channel?

Even if I can figure out the plot in the first five minutes.

I can’t help it.

Nothing makes me smile more than a happily ever after.Continue reading

Four Simple Tips for Decorating With Trays

Four Simple Tips for Decorating With Trays

Ideas on Decorating with Trays

Third grade was a banner year for me.

I learned how to walk my hands all the way down the brick wall on the side of the school until I ended up in a back bend.

I won the contest for walking the farthest around the edge of the playground while hula hooping.

I came in second in the school multiplication bee (total aside:  I lost on 12 x 13).

No one ate paste in our class anymore.

And I discovered how to paint-by-number.Continue reading

My New Favorite Camera Lens BFF

My New Favorite Camera Lens BFF

A while back I attended a photography class at Haven.

It’s where I first met Layla….definitely my finest embarrassing moment.

At the class they talked about aperture and focal points and the rule of threes and about a million and one other things to take amazing pictures.  I don’t really remember much about anything else because I got distracted trying to figure out the wall treatment in the room and redesigning it in my mind for the upstairs room.

Focus….KariAnne….focus.

But the one thing that stuck with me.

The one thing I remembered…..

…..was this amazing camera lens they talked about.Continue reading

Totally random thoughts on an official fall morning:

1.  Did you watch the first episode of Survivor?

If you did….please tell me what you think about the whole family v. family thing.

It literally made me cry.

2.  Don’t you think that your mother always ends up being right?

Mine gets smarter with every year.

3.  Is there a cut-off age for headbands?

I really want one that looks like this.

4.  Hallmark is already rolling out the Christmas movies.

My couch and cup of hot chocolate just told me that this….

….is the best television programming decision ever. :) Continue reading

Four Ideas For Inexpensive Halloween Door Decorations

Four Ideas For Inexpensive Halloween Door Decorations

easy ideas for Halloween door decorations

Just in case you were wondering…..

….I’m not that into scary Halloween door decorations.

Like eyeballs in a punch bowl?

Or things that pop up from coffins?

Or light-up skulls that talk?

No thanks.  I’ll pass.

I like my pumpkins smiling and my decorations noise and coffin free. :) Continue reading

The Rest of the Story

The Rest of the Story

vintage walls

Welcome back rock star.

If you missed the epic beginning of the story of our jump and where it all began and the first part of the tour of the house that we lived in before Thistlewood….you can start here.

Before we begin I have to tell you how much I loved all the comments on the last post.

I read each and everyone….but the second comment down literally made me laugh out loud and almost spit out my coffee….

“Sweetie, they were fighting against the empire, not for it. (are you sure that your husband proofread this)

Loved the tour anyway.”

Exactly.

The commenter was so right.

And I did read the post to my husband (who is a huge Star Wars fan).

But he looked so cute trying to explain the entire story line of all of the Star Wars movies in about five minutes…..

….that I kind of got distracted. :) Continue reading

The House Before Thistlewood

The House Before Thistlewood

living room Remember the first time you watched Star Wars?

(total aside:  me either….I had to look up all these Star Wars details to make my point).

Remember Luke and Leia and Darth Vader and Han Solo and Chewbacca and C3PO  and R2-D2?

(case in point….my husband pointed out that I had neglected to capitalize the names of the robots.  Who knew?)

And you cheered them on and watched them fight against the empire and train to be Jedi knights and destroy the enemy and let the force be with them.

Then three Star Wars movies later…..

…..you find out all about the beginning.

This post is exactly like that…..

….except without Yoda. :) Continue reading
